This weekend this is what Cyam did:
And then he did it again.
You see, our town has a Polar Bear Plunge every year. And he'd never done it. And this might be our last year here. So he decided to try it. Personally, I think he's crazy. And so does Little Squirt.
But he got interviewed and was on the news because of it.

Is it really just another Crush???
You might not know this...but Little Squirt loves music. He's loved music since he was really tiny and Crush by David Archuleta is his favorite. Kind of random, I know. We didn't even have the song - he heard it on the radio and since then (almost a year now) he's been hooked.
But Crush is still his favorite song. Can you see the way his eyes light up when the music starts? So cute my little dancing boy!
Have I mentioned I have a brother who speaks Japanese? (Actually I have two of them - I'll have to make that another post though) He calls LS Potato Kun (koon) Which means potato baby - because of Caleb's 1 month bucket photo with the potatoes. I guess that's what you get when you're born in Idaho.

About time...
It's about time Little Squirt and I leave the land of the sick and join the land of the living. I'm so happy we are both feeling better.
Now...what do we do? The roads are bad so we were advised by Cyam not to drive. We walked to the library yesterday. Grandma is out of town today...hmmm - what to do - what to do.

Eyebrow Trick - Scrapbook Page
This picture of Little Squit remains one of my all time favorites. Such a clever boy I have. You can download this scrapbook kit HERE.
Pictures of Little Squirt
I didn't realize how much I missed taking pictures of Caleb every month until I went through all of these again. When he tuned 1 I felt relieved to not have to worry about his pictures each month. And it's been nice to have a break for a while. But looking through all of things brings back so many memories of my sweet little boy. It's fun to watch him grow up through these pictures I religiously took.
And here's my little boy now - my sweet, attention loving, Little Squirt:

Should I worry?
Seeing how Little Squirt is still sick and I'm not feeling too hot either, I thought a movie might help. But you know what? He had no interest in this:
But he was sure interested in this:

Funny
Little Squirt just found his belly button this week. He's been saying "button" for weeks now and he was very amused when I told him that what he found is called a belly button. Since then whenever he finds it he pokes it and says, "button - button - button" and then laughs - cause it's apparently very funny to have a button on your tummy.

Sick
Poor Little Squirt is losing his voice...for the first time in his life. He keeps trying to squeal, yell, and holler and it just isn't working. Then he tries again and again cause his voice sounds funny. My ears are enjoying a nice break from normal hollering.
New Scrapbook Page
Because I am a member of a Creative Team for Sprouting Seeds Studio I often work on scrapbook pages with kits that haven't been released yet. It's sometimes really hard for me not to share as soon as I get done. Today I went back and used a kit that is already released so I can share it. This is the fist 2 page layout I've done for Caleb's book. I'm so happy with how it turned out. What do you think?
At our house
At our house today we have:
1 sick, completely unreasonable baby. This is day 3 for him to be like this and heaven forbid his advil wear off...
1 working, going to school daddy who is studying like mad to take the GRE next week...and he doesn't think it is that cold outside even though it is only 2 degrees.
1 mommy who is going to go to the eye doctor for new contacts today...and she is excited about that human interaction she will get while she is there.
What do you have at your house today?

A note to my squirt
Dear Little Squirt,
I think it is strange that you want to just sit in the high chair all day long. And if you would stop smashing crackers and throwing food to the floor I would greatly appreciate it. I hope you get feeling better soon, it is no fun for either of us when you are sick.
Love your mom

If...
If you hear Cyam say, "I wonder...."
You might be in for a lesson in dynamics, fluids, or some other such engineering class.
Luckily for you he is a good teacher and very patient.
If you hear Little Squirt say, "nuh-nuh..."
He may want a drink of milk.
Or he may want a snack.
Or he may want lunch.
Or he may just want attention.
It's up to you to figure it out.
If you hear Little Squirt say, "Day -doo..."
That means Thank You.
He says it so much you may not be able to figure out what he is thanking you for.
If you hear Tasty Jane say, "Let me get the camera..."
You better stay right where you are
and keep on doing what you are doing.
If Little Squirt is wearing cute jammies...
I may consider letting him wear them all day.
If Little Squirt crosses his arms in front of him...
That means it is time to pray.
If you are missing objects...
Check the bathtub.
That is Little Squirt's favorite place to stash things.
If the engineers decide to sew a cover for a project...
Tell them to leave the sewing to someone else -
And stick to building things.
If Little Squirt brings you a pair of pants...
He may want his footie jammies off.
If you let Little Squirt play on the couch...
He may figure out how to push the cushions off.
If you play Labyrinth with Cyam...
You might win - if you get lucky-
and all the stars align perfectly.
If Little Squirt eats applesauce (or pudding salad) on his own...
He will be very messy - but he will be so very happy.
If the engineers send fabric to your home in hopes you will help with their sewing project...
Tell them to leave the sewing to someone else -
And stick to building things.
If Little Squirt hands you a winter headband...
That means he is ready to leave. He may also wave bye-bye in the middle of your conversation. That means he is definitely ready to go.
If you find the remote to the DVD player...
Please let me know. I've looked for 2 days and still haven't found it.
A yes - I already checked the bathtub.....
If Little Squirt is standing at your feet and saying, "two..."
That means he wants you to play with him.
(Usually throwing him in the air is his favorite - especially when you count - "One, two, three!"
If you hear Little Squirt say, "two....three..."
Watch out - he's probably going to throw something.
If you decide it would be easier to use the shower to clean up a diaper blow-out...
Know that Little Squirtdoes not like the shower - not even a little bit.
If Little Squirt is begging to get into the highchair...
He may not want to eat - he may just want to make faces at himself in the mirror.

About us
This is our family. This picture is a few months old and the baby is bigger - but it's still my favorite family picture of us. We'll have to get a new one this summer - but for now...this is us. We are a happy little family of 3. We live in Rexburg, Idaho. Here's a little about each of us:
Sam - He's the Dad. He sometimes goes by Cyam. (a nickname from our high school sweetheart days) He is currently working to finish a degree in Mechanical Engineering from BYU-Idaho. He works as a bus driver for the school district. His hobbies include: frisbee golf, playing in the snow, barbecuing with our neighbors outside (even in January), and playing with his little boy.
Stacy - I'm the Mom. I sometimes go by Tasty Jane. (a nickname from a very loved Grandmother of mine who passed away Dec 31st, 2010) My hobbies include: photography, crafts, digital scrapbooking, reading, and blogging. You won't see many pictures of me - especially by myself. I am the photographer so I am always behind the camera.
And this is our public blog - a place to share funny stories and parts of our lives. We also have a private blog - and if you want an invitation send me an email at tastyjane@gmail.com
Caleb - He's the little one
He sometimes goes by Little Squirt. He is 15 months old. He loves to walk and talk and sing and dance. His favorite person is his Daddy. His favorite movie is Princess and the Frog. He loves to get into things and go for walks. His favorite pastime is showing off - especially in church when everyone is sitting down for an hour to watch him (or so he thinks).Sam - He's the Dad.
